Ways to Boost Your Curb Appeal

It’s that time of the year where the weather is getting warmer and people are looking to get outdoors and start sprucing up the outside of their home for Spring and Summer! For a lot of people, the outside of the home can be forgotten about within the design process. When in fact, this is the first thing guest see when they come to visit. Curb appeal should be important to all homeowners and can be easy to do. We asked our very own Interior Designer, Page Thomas to give us some of her tips to boost your homes curb appeal and this is what she said.

Power washing: Give your porch, siding, brick, or driveway a good cleaning. You will be amazed at what this can do. This is an extremely cost-efficient way to increase your home's curb appeal. If you don't own a pressure washer, you can rent one from your local home improvement store for the day.

Landscaping: This doesn’t have to be done by a hired professional. Start with cleaning out those weeds you’ve been looking at year after year. Lay fresh mulch, plant some shrubbery, pot some new plants, create a flower bed, DIY and hang some window box planters. Commit to it. Landscaping requires upkeep and is a labor of love, but pays off!

Paint your front door or shutters. Pick a color that goes with the style of the home, or something that will contrast with your siding or brick. Or, if you like the colors you have now, just freshen it up. This can make a huge difference.

New lighting: Lighting is one of those things within design that is constantly changing. There are so many fun fixtures on the market that won’t break the bank. I like to think of lighting the same way I do with jewelry within fashion, it can really make or break the look, and totally bring it all together.

Accessorize where you can: if you have a front porch, keep a wreath on the door and fresh pillows on your outdoor furniture. Add lanterns or tall planters for that extra layer!
